Michelle has been a Personal Trainer since 2005. While working in a regular "gym", she discovered the limitations of the machine circuits typically offered. So she began moving clients from the machines over to the free weights. Eventually leaving machines behind, Michelle sought out, and still to this day, seeks different functional methods for effective exercise. Discovering benefits of many functional movement systems has changed the meaning of exercise to Michelle.
Michelle believes true exercise is about programs that develop competency in real movements we all use in our regular, day-to-day lives.
"Exercise can be something you do to improve your body composition, but there is so much more to it. It can be something you do to help prevent injury during your ski or golf vacation. Exercise can help clear your mind, make you feel good in your own skin and improve your overall health. Developing competency in functional movements (sitting down, climbing stairs, reaching, walking etc) can help you get around your home more easily and thereby live a better and more fulfilling life."
Michelle stays fit by doing CrossFit and Yoga. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Maine and knows what it’s like to live as a hunter-gatherer.
